In-home Services

Phoenix Behavior Services, LLC provides behavioral services to clients in their home or facility.  This is done for your convenience.  However, it also allows the therapist to directly view the client's behavior in a more natural setting.  This can be important in properly understanding and treating the clients' difficulties.

The following recommendations will help ensure your in-home program is successful:

  • Establish an area where you and your behavior analyst can work.  This area should be quiet, uncluttered, and conducive to treatment.

  • For early autism treatment programs, make sure there is a desk with at least two chairs in a quiet, contained area.  Your therapist will inform you as to what supplies are needed.  It is recommended you keep them in an assigned location in the same room as the treatment.

  • Make the environment free from distractions.  Turn off the television, turn down the phone, and turn on the answering machine.  Stop any chores or other tasks you may be doing, so that your full attention is on your behavior analyst and your session with him/her.

  • Ensure that there is sufficient privacy.  With child clients, it is important that siblings do not interfere with sessions by eavesdropping or bothering the child.  If there is concern about interference from one's spouse or other family members, clients may wish to arrange sessions for a time when others are away from home or will be engaged in other activities.

  • Ensure that you have sufficient time in your schedule for your sessions.  Do not schedule sessions immediately after you are due to come home, or immediately before you are due to leave.

  • Plan what you will say and do if neighbors or friends stop by during treatment.  If you do not want them to know you are receiving behavior analysis services, you may wish to prepare a statement about who your therapist is.  Your therapist will not reveal information about your therapy without your permission.

  • Make sure you will be home at the time of your scheduled session.  If you will be late or absent for any reason, make sure you call your therapist and inform him/her.
